Senior Account Manager and Sales Team Leader

Report to: Directors

Division: Cape Town/Johannesburg

Overall job objective: Develop and sustain new sales channels, and contact, establish and maintain a good working relationship with IronTree partners and end-users.

  • Experience in sales and technical pre-sales
  • Possession of comprehensive IT knowledge and/or experience


The successful applicant will have the ability to:

  • prepare and maintain a budget
  • project and execute sales targets for revenue growth and churn
  • take responsibility and ownership for analysing and understanding client’s needs
  • maintain intimate relationships with assigned channel partners at all levels and gain full understanding of their businesses, including back-office processes, sales and marketing plans, and internal support mechanisms
  • develop and execute strategies
  • grow all vertical segments within channel
  • ensure account strategies are established with key stakeholders in vertical segments
  • align both parties’ sales strategies to ensure strategic objectives are met
  • build relationships and display understanding of client industry, business environment and strategy so as to identify current and future opportunities
  • generate demand by assisting client managers to identify opportunities and add value through IronTree’s services
  • leverage existing relationships and knowledge of end-user environment to meet needs of client at every stage of buying cycle
  • use internal processes, tools and methodologies to manage channel and larger client opportunities, pipelines and make forecasts (e.g. using Pipedrive)
  • liaise with product manager and development to understand details of product directions and design, and communicate information back to sales organisation and vice versa
  • ensure customers/partners are knowledgeable about and trained in IronTree’s services
  • drive a sales culture by sharing best practices, developing and sustaining cross functional relationships and filtering information downwards
  • manage, mentor and grow a team of sales people and account managers in Johannesburg and Cape Town
  • ensure client satisfaction


Minimum requirements

  • Educated to degree level
  • Significant experience in senior management
  • Strong marketing skills and understanding of communication disciplines
  • Exemplary client service skills with the ability to maintain and extend client relationships
  • Excellent time management, numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent, clear and articulate verbal communication, with the ability to convey interest and enthusiasm when presenting
  • Ability to take charge of a situation when necessary and to lead, motivate and influence others
  • Proven leadership in managing teams and mentoring individuals
