IronTree recently hosted a series of dedicated reseller workshops around South Africa, informing and updating channel partners about IronTree’s expanding range of business continuity solutions, from online backup, hosted exchange and ransomware protection to POPI compliance, marketing programmes and DRaaS (disaster recovery as a service).
Core presenter and business developer Steven Cohen, who co-presented at all the events, was thrilled by the attendance in Cape Town, PE and Joburg. “Face to face is always the best way to reach out to our resellers and for them to reach out to us – I always enjoy connecting in real life with people, especially when so much of our world is driven by technology and being online.”
Steven also noted how important it is to get out there and help nudge resellers into selling products that generate recurring revenue streams: “Sometimes we fall into a trap of inertia and carry on in the same old way until we’re made aware of what’s out there,” he said, “so that’s why we do this roadshow every year, to remind our resellers that new technology means there are new solutions they can offer their clients.”
Steven was surprised by how many resellers weren’t aware of all the services that IronTree offers. For example, many delegates didn’t know enough about the Plan4Continuity business continuity software, the Headalight dedicated marketing programme, and how easy it is to migrate to a hosted exchange email system. But the product that generated the most interest was the POPI365 solution that helps businesses to reach initial and ongoing compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI), which is in the process of becoming law in South Africa.
IronTree’s Joint CEO David Lees, who co-presented at the Cape Town and Joburg events, commented, “We’re beginning to hear more and more about the forthcoming POPI Act, which was slated for promulgation into law during the first half of 2017. Now that POPI is beginning to happen in South Africa, it’s clear that our resellers see the potential for alerting their clients to being able to provide a compliance assistance tool. Every commercial entity that retains personal information in whatever format will be required to be POPI compliant. IronTree’s POPI365 compliancy application creates a great opportunity for channel partners to add value to their clients by supplying and supporting a solution that will really ease the POPI compliance procedures.”
On a separate note, with the recent surge in ransomware attacks on businesses worldwide, it wasn’t surprising that many resellers wanted to know more about what the risks to small to medium enterprises are and what IronTree’s ransomware protection solution encompasses.
